List your volunteer, service and participation activities in your local church, the presbytery, school/work and the larger community. Include relevant prior volunteer and work experiences. You may attach a brief curriculum vitae that outlines this information. Letters of support are welcome but not required. Include dates of any prior service as a GA commissioner.

State why you wish to serve as a GA commissioner and how you intend to continue serving our presbytery after serving as a commissioner. In particular, you are expected to share and interpret the actions of the General Assembly within our presbytery and to make a report to the presbytery.

I apply to serve as a Commissioner at the 227th annual General Assembly representing the Presbytery of Lake Michigan. I am sufficiently computer literate to receive and send electronic communications, and I will bring a laptop computer with me to GA. I acknowledge that a portion of the GA will be hled in person at the Baird Center in Milwakee, WI, and I will notify the GA planning team in advance if accommodations are necessary. I will abide by Rule 5 of the General Assembly Manual, which states that a commissioner must be in attendance for the duration of the General Assembly and, if this is not possible, must resign so that an alternate commissioner may serve in my place. My typewritten name below indicates acceptance of these conditions.

Description

The 227th General Assembly will be a hybrid assembly which takes place on June 22, 2026 - July 2, 2026, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Expenses related to travel to the General Assembly, including transportation, room, and board will be provided.

The Presbytery of Lake Michigan will elect two (2) clergy commissioners and two (2) ruling elder commissioners to attend the General Assembly. Alternate commissioners also will be elected.

Members of the Nominating & Representation Committee solicit applications from clergy and ruling elders within the Presbytery who are interested in serving as a General Assembly commissioner. If you wish to serve, please complete this application.

When reviewing applications to serve as a GA commissioner, the Nominating & Representation Committee will consider the following criteria:

1. Indication of strong technology and computer skills, since this GA will be a hybrid of online and onsite
attendance.

2. Past record of service to the presbytery and its congregations.

3. Commitment to continued service to the presbytery and its congregations following attendance at GA.

4. Diversity and geographic distribution concerns within the presbytery.

5. Endorsement by the applicant’s session.

Preference will be given to applicants from different congregations in successive General Assemblies.
